Founder of Stony Creek Strategy

A former head of school with over 25 years’ experience, Julie has led successful major institutional change in every area of school operations and managed a wide array of complex communications challenges. Julie founded Stony Creek Strategy in 2022 to support school leaders by providing skills and tools to improve constituent connection, ranging from the board/head partnership to managing complicated parents and rolling out major school change.
With thousands of readers each month, her Talking Out of School newsletter provides consulting advice on school communications and leadership directly to inboxes every week. Before founding SCS, Julie served in a variety of school leadership roles including Assistant Head at Walnut Hill School for the Arts, Natick MA and Head at the Westover School, Middlebury, CT. She holds a BA from Smith College and an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College.
