Making Changes to Your Game Plan
Every week NFL coaches watch tons on film on their upcoming opponent and create a game plan to be victorious. Sometimes the best made plans, don’t work out the way you intended. Depending on how the game unfolds, coaches need to make changes and adapt their original game plan. I’ve watched many games where the team you see in the first half is completely different than the one that shows up for the second half.
With fundraising events, we also create a game plan. After an event has occurred, we analyze our results and come up with a plan to make next year’s event even better. Just like in football, sometime our game plan doesn’t work out as we expected and that’s okay. The great thing about peer-to-peer fundraising events is that you have ability to adjust your original plan. One reason why I’m a fan of online fundraising is that it provides you with the opportunity to make changes. It’s a tool that doesn’t limit you.
Earlier this week, I was talking to Jeff Shuck, from Event 360, about our upcoming webinar on Wednesday 11/17 titled “What Can I learn From Last Year’s Numbers?” This webinar is part of my week long Events Boot Camp Series. Jeff and I are big fans of data. On the 17th, he’s going to tackle how this year’s achievements can lead to next year’s successes and I’m going to give you some ideas for making adjustments at half time.
Here’s a sneak peak of some ideas we’ll discuss. Before making adjustments to your game plan, we need take a look at how the event is performing this year compared to last year. Some half time metrics to measure are: number of participants, donations amount and number of donations per-participant, emails sent, total number of donations, number of teams, team size, team performance and site traffic. Now, if there’s a drop in number of participants, teams or donations what can I do to adjust my game plan to reach my goals? Well, you’ll have to sign up for the webinar to find out.
